This year the task force has selected Covenant House of Detroit as their community service project. Attendees will have the ability to make a donation of $15 dollars towards a backpack that will be filled with the items selected by the Covenant House. Because they serve homeless youth between the ages of 13-22 they have some specific needs that we are addressing. The goal is to fund 70 backpacks for young men and women with personal need items such as, lotion, deodorant, and lip balm.
Attendees will also have the option to bring other new larger (linens, clothing) items to donate or can even order directly from their amazon wish list
Here are some specific items they are requesting that will not be in the backpacks - jeans, athletic/jogger pants, hoodies, t-shirts, bras, underwear, shoes, robes, belts (smaller sizes needed), winter headbands/earmuffs, bath towels, washcloths, comforters, twin sheets, pillows, and hangers. The clothing items for young men and women so please select age appropriate items.
